Face of Nature...How do you honor nature and work with it's energies?
How did you learn the many different plants, elements, animals around you?
Depending on where we live the many different forms of nature can be very different. Some of us will have lots of rain, snow, earthquakes, floods, forests, sand, mountains, lakes, oceans, rivers, ect ect. How do you adapt to the world around you when it comes to your magick?
What myths and dieties are associated in your area?
Is there any ancient sacred places near by?
Do you have garden, house plants, or buy your own herbs and does it make a difference?
Face of Nature...How do you honor nature and work with it's energies?
I honor Nature by respecting it and trying to conserve it. I work with it's energies by observing their natural flow and gently manipulating it.
I learned about them by studying and researching them.
You just adapt. Change is certain and constant so we are all in a perpetual state of adaptation.
I don't know of any myths or deities associated in the particular part of Texas just the ones that call to me.
If there are sacred places they would most likely be Native American and I don't know where they would be. There are places that I would consider sacred but then I think all Nature is so....
I do not have a garden...yet (I just moved), my kitties tend to eat my house plants but I do have two live planted aquariums. I buy most of my herbs but I do try to use fresh or dry my own when I can. It has not made a difference to my knowledge.
Reply:It seems to me that your question is more
in the scope of the locale than the celestial.
The only way you can 'get in touch' with the
spirits of the locale you're in is (in my
limited experience) either through your own
psychic awareness or sensitivity OR
if you have no obviously 'budding' talents
in that area...then you'll have to train
yourself to have them.
A time-honored method is via Shamanism.
If this is your will, then I would recommend
attending a workshop from The
Foundation for Shamanic Studies (link
below).
The founder (M. Harner) wrote several
books on the methodology of shamanism
and I personally think the best for a
beginner or someone who is only curious
to be "The Way of the Shaman".
But be aware that while the book may
be an excellent resource, nothing beats
one of the Foundation's workshops.
Reply:United Nations addition to include Human Supremacist attitudes as cause of destruction of rights attacks. Once wealth accumulating attitudes out of way human racism where applicable adressed as working against it then can honour Mother Nature. Sorry if annoyed at answer. Where from there are people who have vision quests to select a personal animal for their totem. Mostly what done though the usual, clothbags, soy candles, cloths,Christmas Presents of Boxes,Farmer's Marketts, Fresh plants,Gardens, Not so much.
Reply:I'm Agnostic but I'm a bit of a "treehugger". We've put alot or work into making our garden attractive to local wildlife.
I don't have specific beliefs and I'm not that knowledgable but I believe there's a lot of strength in nature and it's my opinion that only a fool ignores that. A friend once commented that I "See god in a bird's nest" :)
Reply:We save grey water from the shower, kitchen and washing machine for the garden. We planted lots of natives that don't rely on too much water, and attract lots of native birds. We always prune back certain plants at the end of the flowering season so their energy is not sapped.
We are moving house in 2 weeks, so i will have a whole lot of new things to learn about the area. We will be doing the same with water and plants there, they also have compost bins and fruit trees.
Learning about different plants, elements and animals came from books and observation.
