I am 39 weeks pregnant and my face has started feeling really tingly and kind of numb. I imagine this is what it would feel like if rubbed Anbisol over my face. I have been much more swollen today. I am kind of scared. Should I be worried?
Numbness in Face?
I would be concerned and think you should seek medical advice immediately.Call your health care provider and tell themabout both the tingling and swelling. I would personally head straight to hospital. Its not worth the risk at this point.
Let us know how things work out.
Good luck
Reply:I would call your Dr. very soon!! A condition called Bells Palsey is common is pregnant women. It can cause numbness with a tingly feeling. You really need to get checked out.
Reply:Call your doctor. That happened to my cousin, she ended up hospitalized and they diagnosed her with M.S. (it was her first flare up). I had a numb face once, went to a neurologist and he ran tests and MRIs, it turned out to just be stress related, so your best bet is to see a doctor (especially when your face is numb).
Reply:Maybe call your doc and talk to the advice nurse. I've never heard of that happening before, but it might help you feel better to talk to someone at your docs.
Reply:numbness in the face is never a good sign. go to your dr or the ER asap.
Reply:You should probably go get it checked out. Usually facial paralysis is a symptom of having a stroke.
Reply:Call your doctor. It may be nothing or it could be Bell's Palsy. Call your doctor.
Reply:I heard about something like that happening on one of the labor and delivery Discovery Health Channel shows. The girl that was experiencing the numbness had some kind of rare neurological disorder that only became apparent late in pregnancy. Another lady was experiencing numbness and it turned out to be high blood pressure, which has several problems associated with it. Call your OB ASAP, you may need to deliver in the next day or two.
Reply:Normal

Reply:I would call your doctor. My friend is about 30 weeks and she's had Bells Palsy for about a week or so now. Nothing really you can do except her doctor gave her some steroids (not harmful to the baby). It usually goes away after a few weeks but can last up to year sometimes.
Reply:Being swollen could be due to water retention. As far as the tingly feeling....Sometimes this would happen to me too. Not on my face, but one of my legs or arms would go numb. You have to realize that when you are pregnant, your baby is hitting many nerves in your body, and sometimes this can be the cause. That is why the doctors always recommend that you sleep on your left side during pregnancy. It is because you have a major artery running on the right side, and if the baby lays on it then you could experience problems. I would check with your doctor if it doesn't go away. If it does, then I wouldnt worry, your little one jsut may have pinched a nerve :) You will be experiencing that ALOT when they get older...lol. Good Luck!! And CONGRATS! :)
