I use foundation, and then a loose powder so my face looks less oily. Lately, it's been making my face look scaly. I don't have dry skin, and it's only on my cheeks. How can I stop this from happening? It's not a flaky look, just weird scaly lines and everything. And like I said, only on a certain part of my cheeks.
Foundation makes face look scaly?
use a foundation primer before you put your liquid foundation on.
i had the same exact problem a couple years ago and a friend told me about MAC face primer and i never had the problem again.
what it does is locks in the moisture underneath your makeup so you stay hydrated all day without clogging your pores.
its sort of expensive but it works really great. PLUS- they have a type with sunscreen with SPF 50 in it so its also great for the summer.

PS. and don't be fooled by the bottle size, i found it lasts a pretty long time.
Reply:Sara, it has been my experience that a good skin care regimen (day and night for your skin type) works very well in preparing the skin for make up application. I like the water based foundation that aularale.com/7002 has as well as their skin care. Also, I find that taking a good vitamin/mineral supplement, eating fresh fruits and veggies and drinking more water than anything else is of a great significance to the care of my skin.
Reply:well it might be from using it then not taking it all the way off and then if you put it back on... So ummm do you have make up remover or something to just make sure you get all the foudation off before you put more on...
Reply:Use moisturizer before you put the foundation on. My skin does that sometimes as well, but moisturizer will help.
Reply:this has happened to me before. you do have dry skin, you just don't know it. also, be sure you don't put on your makeup directly after washing your face. that should help.
Reply:sounds like you have combinational skin where your cheeks are dry yet elsewhere normal =)
have you considered using a different brand of bloting powder instead of theone that you are using right now?
and what kind of foundation do you use? cream? liquid? or powder ones?
i know with cream and liquid you have to make sure that you even out over the skin otherwise it'd look weird ya know
also you might wnat to consider using liquid or cream ones since your cheeks are dry, that way it wouldn't make it drier LOL =)
Reply:apply a moisturizer first
Reply:use a primer before applying foundation:
smashbox photo finish primer
mac prep + prime
benefit dr. feelgood complexion balm
any brand!! most of them sell primers!
Reply:mix a light moisturizer with your foundation before you put it on.
OR
if you're using a facewash with a high concentration of salycic acid (which dries out your skin over time) find one that's milder. often, you don't notice it's drying out your skin. it usually makes the oily spots perfect, but the places that were already dry become flaky, and more dry.
moisturure is key!!
