PLEASE HELP!! My dog is rubbing her face on odd items!?

My dog has recently been rubbing weird things with her face. she will get down on her front paws and start to lean over and rub the side of her face like her upper cheeks against things. I put her new food on the floor and she rubbed it with her face. Also I just took her out to out backyard to pee and she sniffed the grass then rubbed her face on it then started rubbing her body on the same spot as well. any ideas? I will pick a best anwer! 10 points, please give it a shot :)

PLEASE HELP!! My dog is rubbing her face on odd items!?
Hmm, lots of dogs do that. Like once I was walking my dog, and he stopped for no reason. There was a dead snake, and he started rubbing all in it. It was discusting lol. I'm not sure why they do that. This could be what your dog is doing. Just tell her no, and maybe she will learn.

She could have fleas though, so try putting flea medicine on it.

like everyone else said, try giving her a bath and see if that changes.

some dogs like to get items to smell like them.. wierd, eh? lol, so maybe she's trying to do that.

You may want to ask her vet what is going on, and maybe they can tell you a better answer. I hope this helps somewhat.
Reply:I think that it is just them marking their territory. Both of my dogs will do it. Not all of the time, but sometimes they will. The oldest one especially. He plays with his food and rubs all over it too. They look like goofballs when they do it. It is normal. She is fine.
Reply:my dog does the same thing it might be flees ...my dog does this becuse eather he fase is wet or ichey
Reply:she is most likely marking her terotory all dogs do it

but i would still give her a bath just in case

hope all goes well!
Reply:Though the link specifies cats I think it applies to dogs too ... see link.
Reply:Check her face it my have something is bother her or check for fleas.
Reply:My dog does that sometimes. I think she is trying to get things to smell like her.
Reply:The back yard probably is a scent she wants on her body. Dogs are weird like that. The new food, scent again. About the other objects, her face probably itches.
Reply:My neighbor's cat will rub his face against things, too...maybe he has dry skin, or he has fleas and is trying to get rid of an itch?
Reply:If she sniffs and sneezes a lot, she could have foxtails in her nose. Sounds like something itchy or allergy. It might be the new food.
Reply:Maybe she needs a bath, she is itchy.
Reply:A lot of dogs rub themselves in things so that they will smell like that. You're lucky, my dogs don't want to smell like food, they'd rather smell like dead animals.
Reply:Check for skin problems. When dogs rub their muzzles against objects it usually means it itches.
Reply:Have you given her flea drops? Or she might have ear mites. Good luck.
Reply:Dogs roll themselves in odd things to disguise there smells, because in the wild their pray would smell their scent and run away but by rolling in other smells their scent is disguised.Your dog is just acting like the wild thing she is.You could try stop her by scolding her evry time she does it and spray her with water directly after she does it she'll get the idea sooner or later.
Reply:I just thiink shes itchy just take her/him a bath them scrathch her face or maybe she needs a kiss or a hug.Shell get better i no time.
Reply:marking his places you know or he needs a bath??
Reply:Whenever a dog wants to pick up new oders or materials, they rub their face into it so that the oder will stick with them.
Reply:make sure to take her or him a bath and ask your closest vet good luck girl too to loo
Reply:my dog does the same thing don't be alarmed she probably just smelling then again mine stopped after i gave it a bath.
Reply:dogs have allergies just like people, but they manifest themselves in the skin. your dog is just doing what comes natural to alleviate the problem, she's probably rubbing herself against your bed and couches too, i'm guessing.

take her to the vet for medication
Reply:well i think your dog has fleas on its face try shampooing its face but dont get it in her eyes
